Willem JANSZOON in the Duyfken sailed along west and south New Guinea coasts, then entered the Gulf of Carpentaria. He followed Australia's coast to Cape Keerweer and then turned the Duyfken around whilst still in Qld. |
| 1616 | | Dirk HARTOG in the Eendracht discovered Australia's west coast at Latitude 26ºS. |
| 1619 | | Frederik de Houtman and Jacob d'Edel on west coast of Australia at Latitude 32½ºS (Edel Land) and discovered group of reefs and islands known as Houtman's Abrolhos. |
