Service Your Own Windows PC.

If you are trying to help out a friend, please send them to this page. Webmasters, please link to this page alone to help out your visitors. It all begins here...

Please be aware that this procedure is just one way of servicing your computer. It was originally written and tailored by me to help me perform my often-used standard procedures on customers computers. Now you can also use it online.

Normally I would perform all of these steps here as standard procedure before tending to any other specific problems, which I do as they arise (such as virus) or Windows re-install.
Using these procedures in the order given will help you perform a full system cleanout without destroying your valuable information (if performed properly)

PETE'S QUICK-SERVICE PROCEDURE

This site was created to help you service your Windows™ XP PC. You should use it while your system is working well to keep things running smoothly or once you start to see problems on your system. It should also help for a very sick system but extra procedures may be required to fix a major malware infestation.
It is intended to repair minor problems before they become big problems. You can use the tools and information provided in this site to give your computer a complete overhaul without deleting needed files and important data.
Now I know I'm not here to teach you how to read but may I suggest you read slowly and take in ALL of the information given an a subject before moving onto other pages. Maybe even go through the whole procedure in this site before actually performing it to make sure you understand the whole process you'll be required to perform.
You should follow the "Next" option (similar to link below) on every page to fully service your system.
During the service process you will need to restart your computer. Use the Quick Service Steps to get back to where you were (I should have printable pages organised and available by next months update).
Pete.

I have a CD version of this XP service site available minus all the Bendigo Live stuff. CD version is better because you can access the CD drive in safe mode to carry out the safe mode steps prescribed. It is written in plain HTML text using plain black on white text (no pictures) so that even already sick computers can use the disk offline. $20 + $5 postage. Paypal users can pay via their Paypal account. Pay to admin@bendigolive.com and I will get it there. You can also pay me online using your credit card. Find instructions for that here, or send a cheque/money order/international money order to Peter Killackey, P.O. Box 1247 Bendigo Central, Vic. Australia. 3552. Of course, if you don't want the CD because you just download the site every time you need it, then please consider donating something to help make it better. Don't forget, shopping at our sponsors is also a great way to help. Even better, if you mention Bendigo Live when you visit them.
Pete.
