Bendigo Offers Local Artists Free Exhibition Space
Local artists who may be considering holding an exhibition in 2009 can now apply for a City of Greater Bendigo Dudley House Hire Subsidy Grant.
City of Greater Bendigo Mayor Cr David Jones said the City is calling for applications from local emerging, or independent artists or art groups to consider applying for one of six grants to use Dudley House free of charge.
“Historic Dudley House is located in View Street in the very heart of the City’s Arts precinct and offers a wonderful opportunity for artists to showcase their talent and artwork to a wide audience including tourists and visitors to our community.
“Each year the City of Greater Bendigo awards six grants for the exclusive use of the gallery space in Dudley House which includes the Richard Larritt Room and Gallery 2. Both of these spaces feature a gallery style professional hanging system with stainless steel hangers and steel hooks. In addition to this there is a Gentech tracklight installation provided in the venue.”
“The Dudley House Hire Subsidy Grants provide a fantastic opportunity for artists and I encourage all local artists to consider applying for a grant before applications close on September 26, 2008,” said Cr Jones
Application forms are available online at www.bendigo.vic.gov or hardcopies can be collected from The Capital, The City of Greater Bendigo’s Lyttleton Terrace office and Community & Cultural Development office in Hargreaves Street from August 18, 2008.
Further information can be obtained by phoning Rohan Phillips at the City of Greater Bendigo’s Community and Cultural Development unit on 5434 6464.
