| HOME COMPOSTING REQUIREMENTS |
First thing you will need is a container for collecting compost material inside. When you peel the potatoes, carrots etc., all peel goes into this container. A 4 litre ice-cream container should suit this purpose. This should be emptied into the main compost pile daily to prevent gathering foul odours. Your main composting area is outside and is the resulting pile of waste matter from the container inside. The outside pile can also include any other garden waste as well. Adding material such as lawn clippings into the heap is also worthwhile, although not very nutritious, it will give your compost some beefiness & help break it down even quicker.

The more heat that can get into your pile the quicker it will decompose. The more air that can get in the longer the process will take. A dedicated 1 metre square area placed in full sun will suit most home gardens. A sealed container will bring better results so you should try to seal the compost in by any means possible keeping in mind, turning it over with a garden fork once a week will also speed up the composting process so your container should also provide easy access to the compost. Within 6-12 weeks, depending on your seal, your compost should be at the point where you can add Paskoe Fertiliser, mix one bag of Paskoe through the compost and spread it onto your garden.
