Legacy herbs are the herbs of yesterday. All of the herbs produced by today's growers have been specially bred to produce a new strain. These strains are copyrighted to the creators of the plant and it is illegal for you to re-grow them. With legacy herbs you can supply the neighborhood without getting yourself into trouble. Plant more seeds than you may need for the first year or two. Then, instead of picking your best herbs, allow them to over-grow. They will produce the best seed resulting in the best plants. Within just a few years you will have more than enough seeds and will not need to let them re-seed.

Most herbs are perennial which means if you look after them, you will have them forever. Herb seeds can be planted at most times of the year. When planting in a home garden, use ½ of a 5kg bag of organic PASKOE to a 4mtr square garden. Sprinkle the patch after planting and water the PASKOE in well. Repeat the PASKOE application again every 6 months. Cut back herbs fairly vigourously once a year. You won't need to compost them but it's worth mulching them to help save on water. Herbs come in various shapes and sizes. Oregano makes a perfect groundcover whereas Sage grows 4ft high. With a bit of playing around, its not hard to acheive a perennial "ornamental" herb garden.
