The Racing Officials

The officials who supervise a race meeting are called stewards.
Other officials include:
The Racing Secretary
the racing secretary or "Clerk of the course," in charge of the course and meeting arrangements;
The Weighing Officer
the weighing officer or "Clerk of the scales," who controls the weighing-in and weighing-out of each horse;
The Handicap Officer

the handicap officer, who arranges the weights for handicap races;
The Judge
the judge, who witnesses the finish and declares the result, after consulting photographs if necessary;
The Camera Patrol
the camera patrol, who film crucial points of the race to hep the stewards decide objections;
The Starter
the starter, who starts each race.
