| WHEN TO USE "SAVE AS" If you are starting a file from scratch, there's probably not much point in using the "Save As" feature but there are many occasions that the "Save As" feature does come in handy. You may write a letter to a friend telling your happenings etc and save the file as "steve.txt". You can then reopen the letter to Steve, change a few things and send it on to Kim. If at any stage you Save whilst you are writing the letter to Kim, it will overwrite the original letter to Steve with the all new letter to Kim. Not much good if I wanted to keep the Steve letter intact. But, if you use Save As instead, you can rename the file to kim and the original letter to steve will be there where it was untouched and unaltered. This tool will come in handy often. |
![]() Use Save As, when you have opened and changed an already saved notepad file and want to keep the original the way it was. Type in a new file name and click on save.
