TV 2008 Style!
Having just purchased a new digital video recorder for under AU$200, I can't believe how good this cheap technology is! Until yesterday I had a AU$60 set-top digital box which gave me 2 extra channels and stunningly clear picture, which is nice in itself. My new set top box is similar to the previous box except this one has a hard drive that I can record the digital TV programs to.
At the press of a button it brings up an EPG (Electronic Program Guide) with a short TV guide. Another press and the guide expands to a complete TV guide of all the channels. Press the yellow button to 'book in' the program and how's your father, it's booked in to record. I don't even have to be there!
So I've spent the last hour booking in all the programs I want to watch this week. The theory is it will record them all for me and add them to a list. I can access the list whenever I want, press play and there it will be. I can see problems here when the TV shows run late! BumbleGrums! Time to start the TV-On-Time campaign.
What about the other features? I'm watching live TV and someone starts talkin at me. Now I can press the pause button and pause the live show. I can stop, listen to whoever wanted my attention, sort out any problem and come back to my show! Press the play button and it starts exactly where I paused it! How good is that? How did I stay sane without it?
